To buy or not to buy

I am debating on whether or not to buy this bad boy:
I've never had my own camera. My previous camera (that was a hand me down) is broken and Nathan's camera does not have a charger and I just really want a nice camera that takes nice crisp pictures. I want to take cool pictures of cool things.  Just look at it though. It's calling my name. It is a little pricy but nothing over the top. And I know I would use it, probably daily. And I was thinking of doing a picture a day for the next year and putting them on my blog. Thoughts please!

  1. Why Nikon? What about Canon? I've been a Canon guy for about 15 years. Canon is the most popular and outsells Nikon. The chances that a friend would have a Canon is probably higher. That would give you the opportunity to switch and try out lenses before you buy them. The lens that is included will not zoom in all that much. You won't be able to get and good sport shots, or if you are trying to get a picture of your kid in a play or recital the included lens will not work for you. This will happen with Canon also, but I think you would have an easier time finding a lens to borrow if you needed. But it really depends what your friends and family have around you. If you have any Canon questions I can help you there.

  2. I agree with... whoever that is up there^ Definitely Canon over Nikon. But other than that, I would say go for it. I know what you mean, I would do just about anything to get a DSLR, especially since my current point-and-shoot is pretty bad quality. Anywho. If you feel like you can afford the splurge, do it!

  3. i have a Nikon D 3100, its just the next model up from this and i lOVE it. soo great! i recommend it very much so. In my opinion there is very little different between canon and nikon, it sort of just depends on what you start out with. i've heard if you start with a canon, your a canon girl and same with nikon. you just get used to how they work :) good luck deciding!

  6. I have the older version of that exact model and I love it to pieces. It's such a good camera, and don't listen to those Canon people... Nikon is the way to go! Nikon's customer service is literally amazing. They really go above and beyond.

  7. I totally want to get a camera that's nice like this... Should I? did you end up getting this one? give me the 411? I really don't know much about nice cameras and I am nervous :) yet I LOVE taking pics and I want them to look better quality. Do you have an opinion on them? NIkon? or Canon? Your pics are great!
